Ruchika Nijhara is a Director of the Office of Technology Commercialization at Georgetown University, Washington DC. She is responsible for the protection and commercialization of Georgetown Intellectual Property. She has extensive experience in evaluating inventions for patenting, technology licensing and partnership formation with pharmaceutical companies and non-profit organization to develop new biomedical products. She also works with faculty entrepreneurs and business for the purpose of commercialization of Georgetown Intellectual Property. She has helped commercialize more than 100 inventions made by academic researchers. Some of the technologies licensed by her office have gone on become multi-million dollar products such as the HPV vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix, and the HPV diagnostic kits. She has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. She has been an invited speaker at several professional and academic organizations worldwide. She is a certified Licensing Professional.

Prior to arriving at Georgetown University, she was working at the Technology Transfer Office at University of Maryland.  Dr. Nijhara is PhD in Biochemistry and MBA from University of Maryland.
