Dave Ippolito

Dave Ippolito is a Senior OSHA Consultant with more than 30 years of professional experience at the regulatory Agency (OSHA). Mr. Ippolito provides a breadth and depth of expertise in workplace safety and health compliance and management issues. He graduated cum laude with a BS from Cook College, Rutgers University and is a certified in the Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene (CIH) in 1986, 1992, and 2012.

 

Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Ippolito was the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Assessment at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). He and his team lead the development of OSHA’s terrorism and catastrophic response policies, readiness, and procedures. He oversaw the creation of OSHA’s current National Emergency Management Plan. He also authored a highly acclaimed guidance document that describes the protective measures necessary to properly protect hospital personnel required to treat victims of terror agents such as Sarin, VX and weaponized Anthrax.

 

Prior to his promotion to Washington DC, Mr. Ippolito coordinated OSHA’s national emergency responder airborne contaminant exposure sampling at the World Trade Center rescue. His very successful career at the regulatory agency also spans 11 years as a compliance officer where he conducted over 500 inspections including general industry, construction, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemicals, and manufacturing. He was responsible for Region II’s first successful General Duty Clause violation involving repetitive motion trauma.

 

Mr. Ippolito spent 10 years as an Industrial Hygiene Supervisor, at one time supervising as many as 12 Industrial hygienists from two separate NJ OSHA Offices. During this time, he investigated and developed Region II’s first Egregious Case that included instance by instance willful violations of OSHA’s lead standard.

 

The next five years were spent as the Area Director of OSHA’s Parsippany New Jersey Area office. During his time in management, Ippolito was specifically recognized twice by OSHA for his outstanding managerial and leadership talent. In addition to several Egregious cases involving various industries including manufacturing and construction, Ippolito also issued and legally defended scores of casesthat exceeded $100,000 in penalties .

 

Ippolito worked closely with OSHA lawyers in developing and defending these cases, providing him with a keen sense of the willful / egregious legal theory. All these cases were contested, litigated and eventually settled in the Agency’s favor. Valuable experiences obtained from the field, as well as national office management, enables clients to benefit from his unique and proven expertise. Mr. Ippolito retired from OSHA after approximately 32 years of service.
