The speaker will review the 2012 CMS rules and regulations concerning ordering of diagnostic tests, clinical indications, medical necessity, documentation of diagnostic tests, and the 2012 guidelines for the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI). Sheâll define "order" according to CMS policy along with the form of an order, as well as the exceptions to CMS' ordering policy will be discussed. Medical necessity, how it is impacted by clinical indications and how it should be expressed will also be covered in the session.
Youâll also learn how to document multiple studies performed at the same session within one radiology report. Also, General Instructions for CMS' NCCI Edits will be discussed as they pertain to radiology. The session will also address how to achieve compliance with the various regulatory agencies, i.e. CMS and the AMA.
