Podiatry billing and coding requires very specific and appropriate diagnosis coding because of insurance carriers’ strict policies and procedures related to coverage for podiatry services. Podiatrists and office staff should have the knowledge necessary to understand how ICD-10 will relate to these insurance policies and procedures, and coding for common diagnoses to the highest level of specificity for timely and accurate reimbursement.
