Every year the ICD-10-CM and CPT® manuals are updated with additions, revisions, and deletions. Podiatry has some changes to ICD-10-CM and NCCI edits that will affect the coding of diagnoses coding and CPT® coding for 2018, as well as updating the LCDs and NCDs that tell podiatrists what are the coding rules and guidelines, and what services can be performed based on the patient’s condition and meeting medical necessity.
Join orthopedic coding expert Lynn Anderanin in this session focused on the key ICD-10, CPT®, NCCI Policy Manual and HCPCS changes that will affect podiatry in 2018. You will learn the most current updates in ICD-10-CM that affect foot and ankle related to diabetic patients and other conditions as well as the most current NCCI edits related to surgical toe procedures currently in effect. You will also learn how the new diagnoses codes may change LCD and/or NCD.
Lynn will cover in detail trouble spots like current bunion codes, services and supplies related to orthotics, appropriate use of the ABN when patients are responsible for payment and the latest guidelines for dispensing diabetic shoes. You’ll learn the fundamentals for podiatry coding and billing for 2018. You will be able to implement the annual code changes in your practice to avoid denials you may otherwise receive, and save time for yourself and the insurance company to ensure timely payment of claims because the changes have been applied. You will also be able to work with patients on services that the insurance company may not pay for, so that it is paid by the patient, if performed, and not lost due to improper office policies and procedures.
