The code changes for ICD-10 have been released. The 2018 changes will be effective beginning with date of service, October 1, 2017. Changes for this year continue to provide options for the highest level of specificity. Increasing specificity requires you to stay abreast of changes that could ultimately affect reimbursement. These changes need to be communicated throughout the revenue cycle- from physician/mid-level provider through the collector.
In this session by expert speaker Amy Turner, you will learn about changes specific to the specialty of pain management. After attending this session, you will be confident enough to share with your colleagues the ICD-10 changes specific to pain management. You will be able to communicate to the physician/mid-level provider how specificity in choosing diagnosis code affects the precertification process, and provide clear instruction on choosing chronic pain codes.
