When it comes to supporting and reporting imaging performed in orthopedic practices, you may not be aware of the official requirements both from a CPT stand point as well as an OIG/CMS stand point. There have been numerous changes recently to CPT codes and billing rules, many of these to imaging procedures including plain X-rays, fluoroscopy and ultrasound. CPT started making offices aware of documentation issues back in 2007, but if you haven’t stayed updated with it all you may be not supporting the coding you are submitting.
Join this session by expert speaker Margie S Vaught where you will learn the ins and outs of documenting the many different types of imaging that are performed daily in the orthopedic office. You will be provided with guidance from CPT and OIG/CMS as well as AAOS and ACR. Once you have all the information on the coding requirements, you will be able to code with confidence. You will also be able to get the documentation guidelines to the providers so that they have a better understanding of what is required when billing a global imaging CPT code.
