ICD-10 will have 668% more codes than ICD-9 and by now you’ve probably heard that more than 50-75% of the new codes are relating to musculoskeletal issues. October 1, 2015 is the absolute deadline to submit claims with valid ICD-10-CM codes or risk denied payment and practices should begin working on an implementation plan now to transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10-CM, to include system testing and training physicians as other staff.
