Joan Slager, CNM, MSN, CPC, FACNM, is the Director of Midwifery at Bronson Women’s Service in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The practice integrates, nurse-midwives, obstetrician/gynecologists and maternal fetal medicine specialists who provide care for more than 1,500 pregnant women is southwest Michigan each year. The practice has recently adopted a protocol for first trimester screening for Down Syndrome. Slager helped to develop the protocol.
