Coding and billing for breast surgical procedures can be challenging, especially clinical terminology in regard to surgical and office based breast care. Better documentation goes hand in hand with correct, accurate coding of surgical procedures, clean claims and quicker reimbursement from third party payers. Coders, billers, office managers as well as clinical staff such as RNs and MAs must learn strategies and coding concepts for correct billing for breast procedures in a physician-based practice.

Join this session, where expert speaker Lori-Lynne A. Webb will cover breast coding terminology, common terms and diagnostic conditions associated with breast procedures. Lori-Lynne will look at “incisional” and “excisional” breast coding, in addition to biopsy, mammography, and reconstructive breast surgery. The session will go through a step-by-step process on how to confidently code breast procedures. She will primary be coding as a physician based (CPT®) surgical code set; however, she will also briefly correlate ICD-10-PCS from the hospital side to the CPT® procedures utilized on the physician (pro-fee) side of things.

In this session, clinical and office staff will learn to implement the best practices and helpful hints that will improve their practice’s financial bottom line. Lori-Lynne will provide current know-how, and the important CPT®, ICD-10 and AIUM documentation tips for medical necessity documentation and a good practice process utilizing written and verbal communication skills in regard to breast care and breast surgical procedures. The session will also discuss the strategies to help implement the correct clinical documentation processes used for good patient care and medical record clinical documentation.
