Product Description

Get a Thorough Understanding of the Medicare Reimbursement System With Real Case Examples and Excerpts From the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual.

CMS implemented updates to Chapter 8 of The Medicare Benefit Policy Manual for Coverage of Extended Care (SNF). Updates to the manual include more detailed requirements for skilled rehabilitation documentation and language changes to support the Jimmo v. Sebelius Settlement Agreement. Skilled Nursing Facilities have already seen a significant increase in Medicare Part A reviews and denials related to rehabilitation documentation. Limited documentation of the medical necessity of skilled rehabilitation services may end in denials for rehabilitation services providers.

In this session, expert speaker Elisa Bovee MS OTR/L will present a detailed review of skilled coverage criteria as detailed in Chapter 8 of the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual. The session will culminate in a review of the critical elements of Skilled Rehabilitation Documentation to support Skilled Medicare Part A coverage criteria.

This 60-minute session will allow you to provide quality healthcare through an understanding of the Medicare Reimbursement System in a skilled nursing facility. Elisa will use real life examples to demonstrate how pristine documentation should be written. Sample notes will be included and excerpts from the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual will be reviewed in this session to provide attendees with a better understanding of the changes and guidelines.
