As you know, many spine surgeries involve two surgeons (of either the same specialty or different specialties) working together to perform these highly complex cases. But did you know that CPT has specific guidelines as to which CPT codes you can report as co-surgery cases, while the Medicare guidelines relative to these same cases are different? To report co-surgery for spine cases, you must understand the different guidelines and how to apply them.
