Product Description

Navigate The Co-Surgery For Spinal Procedure Coding Maze.

As you know, many spine surgeries involve two surgeons (of either the same specialty or different specialties) working together to perform these highly complex cases. But did you know that CPT has specific guidelines as to which CPT codes you can report as co-surgery cases, while the Medicare guidelines relative to these same cases are different? To report co-surgery for spine cases, you must understand the different guidelines and how to apply them.

This session will include tables that will help you understand the co-surgery reimbursements from Medicare in comparison to when the CPT guidelines are utilized. You will also uncover the proper use of modifiers for these cases. That way you’ll avoid denials that delay payment.

This session will help you:

  • Specific and precised CPT guidelines on Spinal Instrumentation and Bone Graft procedures and use of modifier 62 with CPT codes 22840-22855.
  • CPT guidelines for add-on codes and the use/abuse of Modifier 51
  • Physician fee schedule – Lists, by CPT code, guidelines for multiple procedures, assistant, and co-surgery – and RVFs for assistants and co-surgery; documentation for co-surgery
  • Understanding NPPs as assistants and assistant qualification; UHC policy for assistants etc.
  • How modifiers 51, 62, 80 and modifier AS affect your payment
  • Information intended for physicians/non-physicians providing services to medicare beneficiaries.
  • Get insights into Insurance carrier policies - study reference guides about claims and encounter submissions.
  • Guidelines for patient billing; how to appeal and win

Who should attend? Physicians, coders, billers, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, surgery schedulers and pre-authorization staff. Administrators and practice Managers
