Get Insights on 2016 CPT® and NCCI Spinal Code Changes


There are new issues related to CPT® coding and NCCI guideline changes for spinal procedures in 2016, including more bundling of imaging guidance both in CPT® and for Medícare patients. Chapter 4 of the NCCI guidelines cover more issues of when you can use modífier 59 for a spinal decompression with a fusion and when you can’t. Also, CCI has given its opinion as to when can you report re-exploration of a fusion along with re-fusion codes.

In this session by expert speaker Margie Scalley Vaught, you will find out the new issues as they relate to both CPT® code changes and NCCI guidelines changes relating to spinal procedures. You’ll come away with a better understanding of what is needed in coding and documentation and when to use modifier 59 appropriately when it comes to spinal surgical procedures. You’ll also get insights on understanding your given payer/carrier contracts to make sure you follow them when they are different from Medicare policies.
