E/M coding has been, and will continue to be, a hot area for payer scrutiny. In fact, a recent OIG study found that providers increased their billing of higher-level E/M codes across all categories (inpatient, outpatient, etc.) between 2001 and 2010. In fact, the OIG sent CMS a list of 1,700 providers who were identified as “consistently billing higher-level E/M codes in 2010.” That means there is a chance that your payer will review any and all E/M claims your practice is submitting. So what are the auditors looking for?
In this 60-minute session, you’ll not only learn the most common E/M coding pitfalls, but also how to avoid them. Increase your office visit claims, inpatient encounter billing and more with the tips you’ll learn in this audio conference. The presenter, Leesa A. Israel, BA, CPC, CUC, CMBS, an E/M auditor and provider educator, will give you the tips, tricks, and tools to ensure you choose the correct level of service. You’ll see the auditing forms and tools Leesa uses when she performs an E/M audit, and learn how to use them in your own coding.
