Hospitals continue to struggle with coding and billing intravenous injection and infusion services, including hydration, therapeutic infusions, and chemotherapy services. There continue to be many questions about the CPT coding hierarchy, reporting multiple services rendered during the same visit, services that crosses the midnight hour, and much more. Incorrect coding/charging of these services can lead to compliance risks and/or revenue leaks and this presentation will shore up everyone’s knowledge and/or provide those who already have a good deal of knowledge with a refresher session.
The session by Jugna Shah will include some T/F questions in quiz format, frequently asked questions and clinical scenarios that attendees will be able to use with other staff in their organization for training purposes.
Not a lot has changed with the coding and billing rules for injections and infusions, yet the provider community continues to have questions which is why the presentation will include some of the most frequently asked questions and also clinical scenarios that focus on difficult code scenarios.
Who should attend: Health Information Management, Nurses who charge for these services at the point of care, Billing staff, Compliance, Revenue cycle, Finance, and others.
