It has been 5 years since any updates to the ICD-10-CM code set has been done. Not surprisingly, 2017 will see over 1900 new codes along with over 350 revised codes. Some revisions are as simple as a singular word change in the code, like from “of” to “due to.” Others reflect a change in the medical terminology. The addition of a word may change your use of that diagnosis code.
There may also be additional new codes or changes that are a result of the April Coordination and Maintenance Committee meeting. Staying current on these changes will help your accuracy and productivity.
