The advanced copy of the State Operations Manual (SOM) Appendix PP-Guidance to Surveyors for Long Term Care was posted this July. The updates in this publication reveal the changes that will be effective with the next two phases of the Requirements of Participation. This information will alert facilities to the expectations of State and Federal surveyors.
In this session expert speaker Marilyn Mines will review the contents of the updated SOM and assist in preparing facility staff to understand the new F tags and interpretive guidelines that will be utilized during surveys occurring as of November 28, 2018. You will learn how to interpret the new survey process and how the change in verbiage will effect preparations for the first annual complaint survey on or after November 28, 2017. You will be able to educate facility staff on the requirements and management of the survey guidelines. This will allow your staff to conduct more accurate mock surveys and help them to understand the use of Critical Element (CE) Pathways for the identification of substandard practices.
