This audio session will give Registered Nurses and Therapists insight related to the topic of ‘maintenance’ for therapists and ‘skilled management and evaluation’ for registered nurses. These two areas of coverage have long been misunderstood to the point that many truly believe that these skills in the benefit program are not areas of coverage at all. Many other clinicians have been indoctrinated in the “theory” that “if we use it we will get medical reviews”
The challenge that will be addressed is related to how to document for payment related to the benefit. Many nurses ORDER “skilled management and evaluation” inappropriately and never ever document the “skill”.
Therapists continue to believe that therapy maintenance is not a covered service. Indeed it is, and has been for many, many years.
The financial incentives are many. The agency will be able to provide many patients who suffer from long term, chronic diseases with ongoing service (beyond the typical 60 day episode).
