Get the 2016 Updates for Prolonged Care and Internal Medicine Codes

How has your practice done with the implementation of ICD-10?  Were you able to successfully convert the ICD-9 codes to ICD-10-CM codes?  Using crosswalks may not be the solution as many practices have seen.  Knowing where updated insurance policies can be found is a must.  Prolonged care codes have been slightly revised.  Is this the impetus you need to train your providers on how to appropriately document and utilized these codes when patient care time goes beyond the published times? And what about the new Prolonged Clinical Staff Services Codes?

Join expert speaker Jill Young, CPC, CEDC, CIMC in this session to get answers all these questions and more.  You will get a thorough understanding of the updates to internal medicine codes in 2016.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how and when to use prolonged care codes and what the documentation requirements are
  • How to organize and schedule your follow up visits under the proposed Medicare changes for Mid-Level Providers supervision in the office
  • How to analyze and understand Medicare’s definitions of the subset modifiers –X{EPXU} modifiers for your practice

This session will cover:

  • Outlining what incident to billing is and how the proposed change in supervision will affect your office scheduling.
  • Will the changes to “prolonged care codes” and the introduction of a “prolonged clinical staff services” code benefit your practice?
  • New and revised codes for immunizations including the shingles vaccine need to be analyzed by clinical and other staff to be sure you are billing for the antigen that your office has a supply of.
  • What is the latest information on the use of Modifier 59 and Medicare’s “selective requirement” to use one of the 4 subset modifiers?
