Tackle Your Pharmacy Policies Now

Given the increased scrutiny of hospital performance by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) surveyors, you must tighten up your policies. Surveyors are taking a particularly close look at your pharmacy procedures—including how you’re promoting safe opioid use.

Learn to spot and fill gaps in your hospital’s medication management protocols with hospital compliance expert Sue Dill Calloway. In this training session, she’ll provide an in-depth examination of the many pharmacy policies that CMS requires your hospital to have. She’ll explain how to ensure that staff members dispense medications in a timely manner (and within one of three blocks of time). And she’ll describe a how to create a compliant opioid policy—and get personnel to follow it.

Calloway will also cover safe injection practices and compounding, nursing care plans, staffing, IV medications and blood transfusions, and how to report medication errors. After attending this instructive session, you will have the tools and knowledge you need to comply with the pharmacy and medication standards mandated by the CMS Hospital CoP manual.
