CMS Strikes Again with New Conditions of Participation Changes for 2014

You must know that hospitals are still addressing the first round of changes released in 2012. However, there are even more changes for Round two. The changes that were released in May 12, 2014 in Federal Register come with a smorgasbord of topics for all types of providers that include updates, clarified definitions and updated interpretations. Explore the changes through this advanced workshop conducted by expert speaker Duane C. Abbey, Ph.D. Additional areas which are addressed include special rules for Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs), Rural Health Clinics (RHCs), Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) and other specialized areas. The Federal Register of May 16, 2012 will also be used as a reference in the session.

The conference will answer pertinent questions such as:

  • Just what are these Conditions of Participation (CoPs)?
  • How important are these CoPs?
  • How does CMS go about updating the CoPs?
  • Do Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) have the same CoPs?
  • Are other healthcare providers affected by the CoPs?
  • What recent changes have been made in the CoPs?
  • What should hospitals be doing relative to the CoPs changes?
  • Do these changes actually streamline the CoPs and other operational aspects?
  • Does the hospital Medical Staff Organization (MSO) become involved in these changes?
  • How are ASCs, RHCs and FQHCs affected by the changes being made?
  • What about specialized providers who are not physicians?
  • Are there any changes in the laboratory area?
