Product Description

What all you need to know to build a strong foundation in homecare?

Avoid denials and deficiencies by learning how to avoid the traps of the qualifiers if you’re homebound, skilled need or under the care of a physician.  Learn how to build the plan of care From the OASIS and evaluations so that it is customized for the patient’s episode.  This session by expert speaker Sharon Litwin will help you to build a strong foundation for the homecare episode of care.

The Foundation for homecare has rarely changed over the years. Medicare regulations have three main qualifying services for homecare and they continue to be a problem for clinicians- the patients must be under the care of a physician, homebound, and have skilled need. These are troublesome areas as there are often gray areas which then fall under scrutiny by auditors and surveyors. Ensure you are building a strong foundation for your homecare episode by learning the rules for each of the qualifiers.  Sharon will also discuss Face to Face, The COPs, and other areas critical to the foundation.

Session Highlights:

  • The foundations of Medicare homecare will delve into the qualifiers for providing homecare
  • Homebound- can be a gray area for clinicians.  When a patient is not homebound, the agency must discharge the patient, but what if the patient is homebound?
  • Why are there so many denials for homebound?  Learn how to document homebound in the clinical record.
  • Skilled Need is always a gray area.  What does Medicare, surveyors and the MACs look at for skilled need? Learn what is skilled need, how long it lasts, and as important, how to document. Learn important tips for determining skilled need.  Teaching the patient will be discussed as an important area in skilled need.
  • Building the plan of care- are you sure to take your comprehensive OASIS assessment and other discipline evaluations to build the patient’s plan of care for this episode? Know how to customize the plan of care is now a common deficiency as the plan of care is too generic.

Who should attend?
