As health care reform moves forward, ACOs are beginning to consider how long term care fits into the ACO. For providers in areas that do not have thoroughly developed ACOs or that are in an ACO area, but whose ACO has not yet addressed long term care, now is the time to begin thinking about how to address the ACO. There are a number of considerations.
This presentation by Robert W. Markette, Jr. - CHC will briefly review the metrics upon which ACOs will be scored. From that review, Robert will move forward to determine what data a provider must present to an ACO to make a case for inclusion or at least to receive referrals from the ACO. The regulatory issues in partnering with an ACO will then be reviewed and observed as to what that might look like to a home health, private duty or hospice provider. This will include a discussion of the potential fraud and abuse issues and potential defenses.
