The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Work Plan is usually released each year in early October; however this year the OIG Work Plan release was postponed until the beginning of the year. According to the HHS, "This change from the usual October release was done to align with the priorities that OIG has set for the current year, a time of continuing fiscal challenges."
However, there is no doubt that the OIG will continue their efforts to curb fraud, waste, and abuse, according to the "OIG Strategic Plan, 2014-2018" that was recently released
And on 20th December 2013, The Justice Department announced recoveries of $3.8 billion from settlements and judgments, from civil cases involving fraud against the government in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2013.
