The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Plan is usually released each year in early October, however in 2015, the OIG released a Mid-Year updated Work Plan Update for fiscal year (FY) 2015, summarizing new and ongoing reviews and activities that OIG plans to pursue.
However, there is no doubt that the OIG will continue their efforts to Fight Fraud, Waste, and Abuse. According to the “OIG Strategic Plan, 2014-2018” and the FY 2014 HCFAC Program Report the Department of Justice (DOJ) recovered $2.3 billion from judgments and settlements due to health care fraud prevention and enforcement efforts. Another $3.3 billion in recoveries were paid to the federal government in 2014.
This session with expert speaker Elin Baklid-Kunz, MBA, CHC, CPC, CPMA, CCS, AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, will prepare you for the increased audit activity in 2015-16 by the OIG and review the latest audit issues for physicians.
