Preparing for 2019 CPT® and ICD-10 code updates goes beyond just learning what has changed. You should know how to apply the new codes – as well as what should be documented to support your claims. The ICD-10-CM updates are effective on October 1, 2018, and gastroenterology will see some large scale changes – with 279 additions, 143 revisions and 51 deletions. This means you will have to adapt quickly to the updates and adjust your claims procedures appropriately without triggering denials.
Both the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and Outpatient Payment System (OPPS) drafts have been released – but are you prepared? Get a jump on the new codes with industry veteran Jill Young on the code changes proposed by the Coordination and Maintenance Committee. In this session, Young will not only walk you through the code changes, but also provide logic and background clinical information on them. You will learn where to find the 2019 ICD-10-CM code list (with addendum) and guidelines, understand how to discern the changes, and know where to find the draft documents for IPPS and OPPS – and the final documents once they are published. Young will teach the new, changed and deleted ICD-10-CM codes for GI practices, bring you up to speed with the possible changes to the E&M coding system by the AMA – as well as any updates to the Moderate Sedation Codes and practices for 2019.
After attending this session, you will confident in your ability to correctly apply the new CPT® and ICD-10-CM codes for gastroenterology, and support your claims with proper documentation.
