This session, with expert speaker Natasha Rowley Phipps will provide a comparison to USDA and FDA labeling requirements and take a deeper dive into the regulations, claims, and standards under the specific programs. Natasha will compare FDA and USDA regulations to explain what is required within the USDA – FSIS labeling. You will get a review of the specific regulations, guidance materials, and program requirements in order to understand the general requirements.
As an added bonus, a few hot topics will be discussed in reference to USDA – FSIS in the areas of “natural”, genetically modified organisms, current trends, and the proposed updates to the nutrition labeling requirements within USDA. Natasha Rowley-Phipps has more than 20 years of experience in food quality, nutrition labeling, manufacturing and research.
