The Oct. 1, 2016 ICD-10 changes will included 1,974 new codes, 311 deleted codes and 425 revised codes. While new codes in Chapter 9 (Diseases of the circulatory system) will allow for the capturing of more serious forms of hypertension, urgent onset of high blood  pressure now also has a new code. These are just a glimpse of the changes that have occurred in ICD-10-CM codes for cardiology.
