Product Description
These tricky skull surgery coding slip-ups could cost you big-time.
It's one thing to code for brain tumor excision and quite another to code for hematoma evacuation. But, what do you do if you're coding for both concurrently? Obviously you're going to use skull base surgery codes and you'll have to know the rules. Join Gregory Przybylski, MD as he teaches you how to code for complex skull surgeries. Greg will not only teach you the rules for coding in this situation, he will also walk you through case scenarios to highlight how to properly code for these procedures.
Here's what you will learn:
- Effectively use modifiers to obtain appropriate reimbursement for tumor excision after recent biopsy.
- Learn which hematoma evacuation codes accept the bilateral surgery modifier.
- Zoom in on how to describe abdominal wall craniotomy flap placement/retrieval in traumatic brain swelling
- Some tumors have specific codes that are to be used in lieu of skull base surgery codes – learn which ones.
- Key components and supporting codes for craniotomies.
- Location is everything especially for hematomas as applied to coding hematoma evacuation..
Who should attend? Certified coders, office manager, neurosurgeons billing professionals and compliance officers.
