Product Description
Think E/M coding is just about checking off components? Think again!
When it comes to E/M compliance, you probably hear a lot about supporting the level of service through good documentation of history, examination and medical decision-making. But what you may not always hear about is medical necessity. And with the increasing scrutiny of E/M services and the emergence of electronic documentation, auditors for federal and private payers are saying, "OK, so you documented that you did all this stuff, but WHY?"
Don’t wait another minute wondering whether your E/M claims are sitting ducks for compliance scrutiny. Join expert speaker Debra Pierce, MD, MBA, CPC, for this 1-hour teleconference that will open your eyes to the often-overlooked E/M compliance essential of medical necessity. She’ll teach you fundamentals on how to assess medical necessity within E/M key component documentation. You’ll walk away with tools to cultivate a better compliance environment that keeps you out of payers’ and auditors’ crosshairs.
Here’s a sampling of what you’ll learn:
- How medical necessity fits into the medical record documentation picture.
- Why you MUST consider medical necessity in billing, coding and documentation compliance for E/Ms ... and how to do it.
- Medical necessity is key in more than just medical decision-making. Learn how to assess it in history and examination, as well.
- Got EMRs? Debra shows you how they could create a medical necessity compliance risk.
- Don't wait to find out: Potential implications of NOT considering medical necessity.
