Catch E/M blind spots before the Feds do…
You know how important it is to audit your Evaluation and Management claims — and that catching problems before your payer finds them, well, pays off. Although necessary sometimes, hiring an outside auditor is expensive — and isn’t enough to protect you from the day-to-day billing and record-keeping errors that can hurt you later. Solution: Gear yourself up for self-auditing strategies that will prevent billing and coding snafus before the Medicare and other payers find them for you.
The challenge: You may not know where to start with an internal audit. That’s why you should tune in to this 60-minute audioconference with expert speaker, Linda Martien, CPC, CPC-H. She’ll help you arm yourself with the E/Ms self-auditing tool you need. Learn everything from documentation requirements to developing your own compliance plan.
In this 60-minute session you'll lean:
- How to determine what type of audit is most appropriate for your organization and how to get started.
- Protect yourself: Know when high level consults should be on your auditing radar.
- Retrospective audit or prospective audit? You’ll have no problem deciding which one to do after this conference.
- Modifier red flags: watch out for these modifiers.
- Key occasions to solicit an outside auditor’s expertise.
- Fixable coding problems that will target you for an outside audit.
- Think your communication lines are open with your staff and patients? You’ll be surprised at what can fall through the cracks.
- Staff education 101: What staff should be doing to keep accurate records is just as important as their knowing why.
- Keep your ongoing reviews and training running smoothly – here's how.
Have additional questions? You have the floor with the speaker during an interactive Q&A.
