CD #2: Take the Guesswork Out of Gyn Oncology Coding presented by Melanie Witt, RN, CPC, COBGC, MA,

There are over 30 codes that could apply to any combination of procedures done to excise gyn cancer, and worse - surgeons are putting together combinations that appear to have no CPT equivalent.

You may have to look to modifiers to correctly code for some surgeries, others can only be reported with unlisted codes.

Plus - many payers are now expecting much more definitive diagnosis coding in support of the more radical or unusual surgeries.

Join Melanie Witt, RN, CPC, COBGC, MA:

  • Diagnostic phase of cancer: review the types of diagnoses and diagnostic procedures essential to capturing reimbursement.
  • Learn the secrets of pathology language and how it translates into reportable ICD9 code.
  • Knowing when and how to apply modifiers can make all the difference to seemingly unusual surgery.
  • Handle discussions with the patient for preparation for radiation or chemotherapy.
  • Tackle unusual coding combinations in a defensible way.
  • More than one surgeon at the table? Get clues to bill correctly for shared surgery.
  • PLUS: A coding grid to differentiate between the different codes for cancer surgery - what is included in each code and typically what type of cancer the code should be reported with.

CD #3: Breast Procedure Coding Made Easy - and Profitable presented by Kim Garner-Huey, CPC, CCS-P, CHCC

If you thought breast procedure codes were complicated before they were rearranged in your CPT book, you may be in a world of confusion right about now. Let coding and reimbursement expert Kim Garner Huey, CPC, CCS-P, CHCC, be your guide in this 60-minute audioconference as she explains the ins and outs of breast procedures – from distinguishing biopsies and excisions, when radiological supervision can be billed and much more.

Topics covered:

  • Breast Procedures 101: Kim breaks them down so you can code correctly 100% of the time.
  • Define the difference between simple mastectomy and subcutaneous mastectomy -- not knowing will cost you.
  • 3 Things coders should tell the surgeon to ensure the clearest documentation.
  • Excision or biopsy?. Here's an easy way to tell the difference.
  • Speak your doctor’s language: How to translate medical terminology into coding terms with ease.
  • New technology: Stay abreast with all the new ways to treat breast cancer -- and how to choose the best codes.

CD #4: Anatomy 411 for Coders: Breast, Prostate and Ovary presented by Jillian Harrington, MHA, CPC, CPC-P, CPC-I, CCS-P

You may have conquered all the coding rules you need as a pathology coder --but how confident are you with the human anatomy? Now is your chance to learn the anatomy and physiology of the breast, prostate and ovary along with common ICD-9 and CPT codes that go along with these body areas. Join coding guru Jillian Harrington MHA, CPC, CPC-I, CCS-P for this in-depth look at anatomy from a coder's perspective, and walk away with knowledge that can score you better reimbursement. Non-pathology coders can benefit too.

Here's what you will learn:

  • Demystify the anatomy and physiology of the breast, ovary and prostate.
  • Common afflictions of these three key body areas.
  • Get the scoop on key pathology procedures dealing with these areas.
  • ICD-9 and CPT ‘lingo’ that deals directly with these body areas.
  • Improve your coding prowess with a better understanding of what is behind the codes.
