This Session Originally Aired Nov. 18, 2009 Protect yourself from claims denial disasters and fraud and abuse allegations. The new Conditions of Participation, combined with the OIG work plan and CMS comments to the industry, along with the increase in hospice fraud investigations make it even more important to know the risks and take precautions when contracting with other providers - especially when higher levels of care are involved.
Reimbursement issues can become fraud and abuse investigations in the blink of an eye. Join expert Mary Michal for the 1-hour audio conference to learn to identify and address risks in your contractual relationships with hospitals and nursing facilities. Mary will walk through case studies that illustrate risk areas you face and how you can approach them.
Mary will also break down the anti-kickback statute and show you how to meet the safe harbor when you're contracting with hospitals and nursing homes. Here's what you will learn: - Review your nursing home contract for fraud risks - there might be impermissible inducements to refer…
- Spot the whistleblower signs early. Mary will show you how.
- Justify general inpatient and continuous care: not all patients are eligible for this level of care at the end of life.
- The role of the IDT, including the medical director, daily review of GIP or continuous care is a must.
- Fraud and abuse? Check your reimbursement to ensure that your claims can stand up to investigation.
