About the Speaker

Mark Sharp, BKD’s Home Care & Hospice Center of Excellence Coordinator, has more than 15 years of experience assisting home care and hospice providers with audits, strategic planning, accounting, cost reports, projections, operating budgets, corporate integrity, agency start-up and mergers and acquisitions. His services include Medicare and Medicaid consulting, development of budgeting systems and performing benchmarking and productivity studies.  He also provides management oversight for BKD’s home care clinical consulting and billing services team.

As a nationally recognized home care consultant, Mark serves on the Home Care & Hospice Financial Managers Association’s (HHFMA) Workgroup as well as HHFMA’s Membership Committee.  He has recently been actively involved in HHFMA’s special task forces on hospice payment reform, home health transportation and home health Medicare cost report accuracy.
 
Mark frequently presents workshops on various home care topics at national, regional and state home care and hospital conferences throughout the United States, including presentations at the National Association for Home Care & Hospice’s (NAHC) 2009 Financial Management Conference and NAHC’s 2008 Annual Conference.

He is a contributing author to BKD’s Health Care News, which is distributed to more than 5,600 individuals in the health care industry, and other health care periodicals, such as NAHC’s CARING Magazine, HHFMA’s Update, Dennis Barry’s Reimbursement Advisor, the American Health Lawyers Association’s LTC Advisor, and the National Rural Health Association’s Hospitals and Community Health Systems Constituency Group Newsletter.  Mark is also routinely quoted in home care industry periodicals, including Eli's Home Care Week, Home Health Line, and Hospital Home Health.

Mark’s professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He joined BKD in 1992 after graduating cum laude in 1991 from Missouri State University, Springfield, with a B.S. degree in accounting and a minor in computer information systems.
